Chapter 3.

Sorry about the gap in between these two chapters. Here it is.

The next day, the boys hurried through their Switched-On Schoolhouse and rushed out the door to go buy an ATT [all-terrain tank] with their combined savings of $30,000.
When they got there, they found out the ATT was about $50,000, so they got an ATJ [all-terrain jeep] for $20,000. As they were driving around, they talked about what kind of equipment they would need.
“Hey Justan, Kevan, now that we have a vehicle, should we go hunt dinos, or should we capture them and take them to Chise?” Nathan wanted to know.
“I think we should capture them,” Kevan suggested.
“Me too,” agreed Justan.
“Then I think we should go and buy the meat we need for luring them in,” Nathan said, “and the cage for taking them to the helicopter landing pad.”
When they finally got to the DDSH [Dino Defense Squad Headquarters] the boys went to the front desk and said, “We would like the kind of meat dinosaurs eat, and we need a cage.”
“A BIG one,” Kevan added.
Justan smiled and nodded.
The clerk ran it through the cash register and said, “That will be one thousand dollars, please.”
The boys looked at each other.
I didn’t know it cost so much money for a cage and meat, Nathan thought. I thought it would be around 500 dollars, but instead, it’s double. How are we going to pay for it? We still need to buy a shield generator for the truck, ’cause the boys are young and—
“I’d like the money please,” said the clerk.
“We changed our minds,” Nathan said. “I think we should get three machine guns, three rounds of bullets, and ATJ size lasers instead.” Nathan looked at the boys and mouthed why they couldn’t buy the cage.
And the boys nodded their approval of this new plan.
“That will be 600 dollars.”
Nathan took out the cash and handed it over. He took the machine guns and the bullets and gave them to the boys. Then he went into the back room with the clerk to get the lasers. Thirty minutes later, they had the lasers installed and the machine guns ready for anything.
They were on the road again and on their way to Phoenix, Arizona, because they heard there were raptors there that were eating through windows and tearing up stores.
Suddenly a raptor jumped right into the road! The boys trembled as Nathan reached for the joystick that controlled the newly-installed lasers.
WOOSH! The green laser shot out like it was playing cat-and-mouse with the top of the truck. The laser hit the raptor. THUNK! The raptor hit the ground like a ton of lead. The boys were relieved because they didn’t know the raptor was going to get that close.
Kevan laughed.  “It’ll never get up off the ground now.”

Mario Bros

Chapter 2

"OH NO! The city is on fire! We have to stop the dinos before it’s too late! Full throttle, Kevan!" Nathan exclaimed.
They whizzed past raptors and lizards, stegosauruses and triceratops. They got to the very middle of the city and what they saw made their eyes go crazy—a tyrannosaurus rex on top of a building, and a dangerous pteranadon circling overhead.
"Nathan, hang on to that rope and try to distract the T-rex,” the commander ordered, “while we get the bombs in the back. And . . . be careful!”
Unexpectedly, another T-rex leaped out of what seemed like nowhere. Nathan’s hands shook as he reached for the rope and slid into the air. Raptors everywhere hissed at him. Then two minutes later, he felt himself going back up into the helicopter. “W-what happened?” Nathan stammered.
“Remember, that was supposed to be a test,” the commander explained. “You may be face-to-face with a hungry raptor waiting for his dinner next time.” Then he said something unexpected. “You three are now in the DDS squad. In fact, the last test had a twenty-five-year-old guy. He did the exact same thing you did, Nathan. Except about the part where he had to wait until I pulled him up. He didn’t like it, so he started climbing up the rope!”
The three boys laughed. When they went to bed that night at 11:00 pm, they slept in till 10:00 in the morning.

The Day the Dinosaurs Came

“ROAR!”
Nathan cringed when he heard the Tyrannosaurus Rex being captured in the middle of the street. He ran to the window to see what was happening. A helicopter whooshed in the air and dropped a fifty-pound metal hook.
CLANG! The hook dropped to the ground. One of the soldiers put the hook on a 900-foot wire net, with the T-rex inside. Then the helicopter lifted the T-rex and flew off to what Nathan knew was a deserted island called Chise in the Philippines archipelago. Nathan walked out of his house, relieved to see one less T-rex in this city. Kevan and Justan walked over. “When we get rid of these dinosaurs,” Justan said, “we’ll all go on a vacation together, just the three of us.”
“Thanks, guys, but the dinosaurs keep multiplying,” Nathan said sadly, “and we have to find just where they are doing that.” Just then a Pteranadon circled overhead.
“Science can probably tell us that. We do know that T-rexes have to go somewhere, like a big cave,” Kevan said while stomping around like a T-rex.
“And raptors could dig big holes in the ground with their claws.” Justan grinned and made digging motions in the air.
“You’re right,” Nathan agreed. “They do that. But we don’t have trucks or jeeps or helicopters that can go into caves, holes, and other hiding places.”
Then he added, “But we have some twelve, fourteen, and nineteen-year-olds here, and I think we should go meet dinosaur defense squad.”
The next day, the three boys leaped out of bed. Kevan and Justan did their Switched-On Schoolhouse as fast as lightning. Then they flew in their private helicopter to the DDS [dinosaur defense squad] headquarters.
F-ffffffffffttt went the blades as they took off into the clear blue sky. Minutes later, they were in the DDS office. The commander said, “We need soldiers and DDS guys. You three young men could join the DDS troops. Find yourselves some gear and let’s go!”
Soon the three boys, Justan, Kevan, and Nathan were back in the sky with the commander, looking for a test spot. They finally settled on the marshy land of Louisiana, which was filled with crocodiles.
"Do you have any guns?" the commander asked.
"No, do you?" Nathan answered.
"We’ll have to go somewhere else. Maybe New York City. There are plenty of T-rexes up there."
So off they went to New York City. They were within ten minutes of the city when they saw smoke and fire.
